"A Creature was Stirring" by Clement C. Moore and Carter Goodrich
This is a sweet story about a little boy who can't go to sleep on Christmas Eve.
He encounters Santa and helps save his sleigh. The classic poem " 'Twas the Night
Before Christmas" is on one side of every page and the little boy's adventures on the other.
We discussed ways to fall asleep on Christmas Eve. The best suggestion was to receive a new book and then go off to bed with it. The children really enjoyed this story and it was a wonderful way to blend an old favorite with a new story line.
"Brave Santa" by Nancy Powder
Christmas is an exciting time, but many children are afraid to talk to Santa.. Jack is one of those children. While hiding, he discovers that someone else is afraid too - Santa! We talked about this fear. In the story it uses role-playing as a suggested help to overcome it. Hopefully it put to ease some of the children fears and made talking to Santa a happy experience.
