Foothills Thanksgiving Theme

Foothills - Funny Thanksgiving Theme (PAIR/SHARE IDEA)

Books: "Let's Celebrate Thanksgiving", "My Lucky Day", Cookbooks, "Disgusting Foods" and "That's Disgusting And We Ate It"

We used these books about food because what is Thanksgiving --without food. We asked the children what they like to eat during the great feast. Then we asked what the "yuckiest" food at Thanksgiving was. We then talked about other ethnic foods such as Italian, French, Chinese, etc. We then showed them the book "Disgusting Foods" (We highlighted some of the grossest food pictured.) The last page showing the most disgusting food was about cheese. We asked a disgusting question found in the book "That's Disgusting and We Ate It" which is how we tied the two books together. After discussing the facts about cheese, we picked up "My Lucky Day" and asked what is a foxes favorite food is. Then we read the story. They loved the twist and smarts of the piglet.
