Southland

Hi there. Jenny at Southland here. I'm introducing a book this week to 5th and 6th graders called Heir Apparent by Vivian Vande Velde. It's one that I checked out on cd at the public library recently. I find that I can get through many more books when I listen to them while doing everything else in life. And, I enjoyed this one. I went on google and found a booktalk for it and adapted to my style. It's a Beehive Nominee (2005-06) and I've had really good response today. It's about a girl who's given a gift certificate for 30 minutes of virtual reality gaming. So, I begin the discussion by asking who likes to play nintendo, xbox, etc. Then I read an excerpt from the book. So, maybe it may work for you. See ya.
